“After a recent AARP study that reported 82% of middle-aged Americans would prefer to stay in their homes as they age, the National Association of Home Builders developed a new Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) program to help remodelers serve the fastest growing demographic in their industry.”

The CAPS designation is available to people in various fields, all with the same goal in mind: to gain a greater understanding of the aging population's needs. Kaizen Builders of NE LLC is one of the few certified in Massachusetts.   CAPS is not for the uncommitted.  There are required courses for the designation: "Working With and Marketing to Older Adults," "Home Modifications" and "Business Management for Building Professionals." CAPS professionals also pledge to the CAPS code of ethics to receive the certification.  The learning continues with mandatory continuing education.
